Sümeyye ÇALIŞKAN
It's Sümeyye, born on 5 October 1997 in Istanbul. I've been interested in art for as long as I can remember, but it really took off when I started drawing caricatured characters at primary school. My work in this field attracted the attention of my esteemed art teacher Sebahat Fırtına, who encouraged me to explore and develop further.
The degrees I obtained in various painting competitions I participated in during primary and high school provided me with a strong motivation that art would be a part of my life and strengthened my determination to progress in this field.
During my high school education, I studied child development and in this process I had the opportunity to observe more closely the impact of art on the developmental characteristics of children. While working in kindergarten, I realised that art is not only a means of entertainment for children; it is also a tool that strengthens their motor skills, social-emotional development and creativity. This experience made my approach to art more meaningful and comprehensive.
During my university education, I worked part-time in event and organisation companies in order to contribute to my personal development and gain financial independence. This process enabled me to understand corporate dynamics, expand my professional network by establishing effective human relations and gain valuable experience in project management.
I studied at Marmara University Atatürk Faculty of Education, Department of Painting and Art Teaching, where I received an in-depth art education in Hüseyin Avni Öztopçu's workshop. My academic career has enabled me to expand my artistic vision and strengthened my creative thinking. This process has taken art beyond seeing it as a hobby and made it a way of life for me.
I started my professional career as a trainer for children, teenagers, adults and disabled individuals, guiding them to discover their artistic talents. Currently, I work as an executive assistant at Bosphorusian Art, a department of Bosphorusian Event Managements & Assistant Services. In addition, I am constantly pushing my own style and perspective forward by pursuing both professional and personal artistic projects.
I see art as a language, not just a word and its definition, and I am convinced that this language is a universal tool that can express the essence of human beings. With Bosphorusian Art, I lead the projects for the evolution of these ideas into concrete form.
